Pianist Kayoung An is renowned for her “passionate,” “expressive,” “bold,” and “sensitive” performances, as noted by critics following her collaboration with the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie. Described as possessing “elegance” and “fire” (Music Review, August 2017), she has toured extensively across Korea with this orchestra and has performed with esteemed ensembles, including the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonians, Amadeo Philharmonic Society, Bar Harbor Festival String Orchestra, Contemporary Repertoire Orchestras, and the Morning Heights Chamber Orchestra.
An international award-winning artist, Kayoung An has graced stages in the United States, Korea, Canada, Italy, and Russia. She made her solo debut at Weill Carnegie Recital Hall in 2013, and her performances have been widely broadcast on platforms such as KBS Classic FM, KBS-TV, Cogeco TV, and Belfast Community Radio. She has been featured in interviews by notable outlets, including the Bar Harbor Music Festival, Netherlands’ Luister, Korea’s Music Today and Music Journal, and the East Hampton Star. In 2023, Kayoung An released a recording titled “Kayoung An and Friends Play Bernard Hoffer,” featuring the Morningside Heights Chamber Orchestra under the direction of David Gilbert, former assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Gábor Hontvári, Lawrence Golan, and Francis Fortier throughout her career. Most recently, in September, she was featured as a guest pianist at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, performing at a Korea-US Alliance event honoring heroes of the Korean War and expressing gratitude to General MacArthur and the UN.
Dr. Kayoung An has been a member of the piano faculty of Manhattan School of Music’s pre-college Division since 2022.
