At Classical Music Chicago, we are continuously evolving to better fulfill our mission of opening the door to the transformative power of classical music for people of all ages, backgrounds, and means. As we look to the future, we are focusing our efforts on bringing world-class classical music performances to every corner of Chicago and supporting the next generation of classical musicians.

As part of this renewed effort that focuses on bringing new programs and musical offerings to an expanded audience, we have made the thoughtful decision to discontinue Do-It-Yourself Messiah.

For many years, our Do-It-Yourself Messiah has brought together music lovers from across Chicago to sing and celebrate Handel’s beloved work. As one of the first sing-along Messiah events in the city, it has been an integral part of Chicago’s holiday traditions. However, in recent years, a number of organizations have introduced their own sing-along Messiah programs, providing numerous opportunities for participation across the city. Given this vibrant landscape, we feel the time is right to pass the baton and focus our energy on new initiatives that align more closely with our mission.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has participated and helped make DIY Messiah a cherished event over the years. We encourage you to explore the many other sing-along Messiah offerings in Chicago and continue celebrating this wonderful tradition.

This annual citywide, free music festival takes place on the Summer Solstice, June 21, and is completely FREE.
