Praised by New York Concert Review as “a pianist of excellent technique and a wide range of expressivity” and described by Fanfare Magazine as “a born storyteller,” Dr. Chloe Chuyue Zhang maintains an active performing and recording career. She was the first prize winner of the 2021 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and the second prize winner of the 2017 Wideman International Piano Competition.

As a featured soloist, Chloe has performed Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Ravel’s G Major Piano Concerto with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and Liszt’s First Piano Concerto with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Her debut solo album, released by Orpheus Classic in July 2022, features works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff.

Chloe is also devoted to contemporary music and composition. She premiered Sonata for French Horn and Piano by Zhongrong Luo at the New York Focus Music Festival. As a collaborative pianist, she served as an ensemble pianist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble for over three years, working with distinguished conductors including Leonard Slatkin and Mark Scatterday. As a composer, she premiered her piano work Desert in Morse Hall, New York.

Chloe has performed recitals nationally in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Maine, as well as internationally in Croatia and Spain. In addition to piano, she also plays other keyboard instruments, such as the harpsichord. Recent performances include her harpsichord debut playing Poulenc’s Suite Française with the Eastman Wind Ensemble.

Chloe earned her Doctoral degree from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Natalya Antonova, and her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Jerome Lowenthal. She has also worked with Robert Levin, Joseph Kalichstein, Alexander Kobrin, Alexander Korsantia, Matti Raekallio, Boris Slutsky, and Martin Canin.

Chloe now resides in New York City with her husband Zhu and their beloved cats, Chaz and Bunny.
