Bassoonist Galina Kiep enjoys a versatile career as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. She has performed with ensembles such as the Minnesota Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the Grant Park Festival Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has made festival appearances at the Santa Monica Music Festival, the Peninsula Music Festival, the Pacific Music Festival, and the Atlantic Music Festival, and Music from Angel Fire. In addition to her performance engagements, she is privileged to work as a music educator, currently serving on the faculties of Illinois State University, the University of Illinois – Chicago, the Music Institute of Chicago, and the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop.
Outside of music, Galina enjoys a daily yoga practice, long walks in nature, and a good book.
Dr. Myunghee Chung, native of Korea, holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including first prize at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Performer’s Competition and the William Kapell International Piano Competition. Her playing has been described as “clean, strong…marked by a bell-like quality that never disappeared even under the severest pressure.” Since then, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout North America with orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as well as in Europe and Asia.
